Life Care Centers of America honored Brenda Files, dietary director at University Park Care Center in Pueblo, Colorado, with one of two President’s Awards for its Mountain States Division on Aug. 27, 2018.
The President’s Award recognizes distinguished service in a long-term health care management role. The Mountain States Division includes 30 skilled nursing and rehab facilities in Colorado, New Mexico, Wyoming and Hawaii.
Files was praised for her 32 years of dedication to the facility, serving there since the building opened. She is an inspiring leader to her team in the kitchen and the facility team as a whole, and she has helped members of her dietary team face personal challenges and (on several occasions) find transportation to work.
As a result of Files’ leadership, her department has been deficiency-free for the last six state surveys, a rare feat in the industry.
“Brenda has demonstrated professional skill and compassion in dispatching her responsibilities to the associates, residents and families she serves,” said Beecher Hunter, Life Care president. “She has uniquely demonstrated a leadership style for others to emulate. This is a distinguished award to receive because it goes to the heart of our mission.”
Fifteen President’s Awards are presented annually to leaders of overall successful facilities or organizations within Life Care.
